ANGEL ORENSANZ FOUNDATION NEWSLETTER #9
We hope you had a wonderful summer! With the coming of the new season we are excited to share with you news from the Orensanz Foundation and the Lower East Side.
This weekend, the whole New York City has thrown itself into the commemoration of the September 11 anniversary. We are also in it and have put up a very special, pondered and poetic event. We hope you can join us tomorrow Sunday 9/11 to pay tribute to the victims; check 3,000 Pebbles in Memoriam to learn more about the installation and action planned. To delve into the details of how Angel Orensanz witnessed the tragic attacks and his artistic response in the aftermath, read the article September 11: The Arrival of the 21st Century.
On an equally serious note, Derek Bentley devotes this week’s essay to the interesting figure of Douglas Rushkoff. Read all about his views on Angel Orensanz’s installations and their narratives within the wide frame of the media. Much more to come about Rushkoff and his up-coming Contact Summit, on our next Newsletter.
Last but not least, be sure to check out Allen Ginsberg’s “Kaddish” at The 4th Street Theatre. One of the masterpieces of the legendary poet’s works will be premiered in the form of a play at one of the most remarkable theatres that populates the streets of the Lower East Side.
