Pascale Lafay, winner in Cannes of the “Angel Orensanz Award Aviff 2012”
Cannes, France, May 22, 2012. The jury that awards the Angel Orensanz Award Aviff 2012 of the Cannes Film Festival has just granted it to Pascale Lafay for her film “Ouvre les yeux” (Open your eyes).
Lafay’s work competed for the award with another 24 films from Europe, Latin America, Africa, Israel and the USA. All the selected and awarded films will be presented in Prague and South Africa as an extension of the movie award show during the upcoming weeks.
The large group of directors and producers that participate in this Festival come from regions as diverse as Iran, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Mexico and South Africa. The jury of this festival was made of Dominique Juan, Director of Coste Magazine (Marsella) from Provence, Serge Necker, director of the Castle de Buzine (Cote d’Azur), photographer Bernard Pesce, and finally the sound designer, art director and music programmer Fabrice Berg.
The Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York, through its digital communications system, web pages, and streaming services will include ample information about the award and its participants during the upcoming months.
Angel Orensanz is known internationally for his sculptural work, his drawings, engravings, performances and installations. His work in film has been recognized at festivals and museums from all over the world such as the Sundance Film Festival, the MOMA, the Whitney Museum, and in such places as Moscow, New Delhi and Tokyo.
